Our Story

Inspired by Romayne's music, wisdom and altruism, our founder, Curt Cetraro, formed a special bond with Romayne and initiated efforts to support the Health Care, Education, Famine Relief and Sustainability programs created by Romayne over the last 40 years.

Curt established "Music Making a Difference," a U.S.-based non-profit organization that is deeply committed to protecting and supporting the Rarámuri indigenous peoples in the Sierra Tarahumara, Mexico, by funding, in perpetuity, the programs created by Romayne.

Who We Are

The organization's overarching objective is to raise awareness about the unique challenges facing the Rarámuri people, foster cultural preservation, and provide essential support to improve their quality of life. The organization was founded in homage to Romayne Wheeler, a classical composer and pianist, who has lived as one with the Rarámuri in their natural environment for over 40 years.

The non-profit's efforts have led to the establishment of a medical clinic, schoolhouse, food storage, and water infrastructure, all of which are instrumental in saving lives and preserving the traditional Rarámuri way of life. The medical clinic provides basic healthcare services to the Rarámuri community, while the schoolhouse offers educational opportunities to the children. The food storage ensures that the community has access to food during times of famine, and the water infrastructure provides clean water to the community.
