The Story of "Music Making a Difference"
This organization was inspired by a humble and exceptionally brilliant human being named Romayne Wheeler. Romayne is an American world-class pianist and composer who lives in a remote mountainous region of Chihuahua, Mexico. For decades he has devoted his life to creating beautiful music, art and writings that expresses his deep connection with the place and people that inspires and enriches his life.
When the founder, Curt Cetraro (seen in the photo) kept hearing of Romayne's unique and inspiring life from a friend, he became determined to meet him. His life was forever changed after venturing out to the remote mesa where Romayne lives, amongst a community of indigenous Raramuri people, and experiencing the profound beauty and energy of the land and its people. Curt found great inspiration from Romayne’s wisdom, genius and selfless service and also was deeply moved by the Raramuri’s values and humble ways of life. Romayne and Curt developed a special friendship and trust and he soon felt a desire to also be of service. Curt began organizing piano concerts for Romayne and sharing his music with friends.
Romayne, now 80 years old, is feeling like he doesn’t have the energy to continue his usual world touring which then created the predicament: “How will I continue to support all these families’ ways of life?” And so, Curt created: “Music Making a Difference,” to preserve and carry on Romayne's legacy of supporting the Raramuri people, as well as promoting other music artists who contribute through their music, healing, joy, wellbeing and support to the planet and its people.
